BLUE LODGE NEWS

July 7, 2011

On Thursday, July 7th, Franklin Lodge met in stated communication. The meeting was preceeded by a meal of grilled hamburgers and hotdogs, beans, macaroni salad and chocolate pies and banana pudding for dessert prepared by Stewards Earl Pinkston and George Ralph Arnold and the Master's wife, Donna Peek. Business topics included an update of the calendar of events to reflect a rescheduling of the Past Masters Night to July 21st meeting, moving the Bean Soup and Pie Auction to October 29th, announcing a Fellowcraft Degree work on August 4th with JW Eddie Arnold conferring the degree, an Ice Cream Social was added on August 21st at Millenium Park, and the breakfast in October will be designeated Friend to Friend Day. A workday was set for July 13th to paint the columns in front of the Lodge. Bro. John Herndon from Melville Lodge presented Masonic Education on the Hawkins Bible. The Hawkin's Bible was part of the original great lights upon which the Grand Lodge of Kentucky was chartered. Bro. Herndon spoke about the history of the Bible, it's original owner and many historical facts related to the first lodges in Kentucky. The Lodge donated $25 to Bro. Herndon for his travel expenses. The kitchen is being redone following the purchase of a new stove. The kitchen will be re-organized to better accomodate the work. The old stove will be surplused. A discussion was had about getting pictures of recent events in the paper and the Masonic Home Journal. Bro. Tom Bustle advised that he had purchased a new memory chip for the Lodge camera so we can have more pictures in the future. An attempt will be made to get pictures scanned in and put on the website. No further business, Lodge was closed with peace and harmony prevailing.
